Since 1986, the Department has been organizing the series of conferences covering the entire range of topics: linguistics, literature, cultural studies, methodology, and translation studies. From the very beginning, they have been the biggest conferences of English Studies taking place in the Czech Republic. Since the foundation of CZASE, the conferences have been jointly organized by CZASE and the English Department. In 2005, the periodicity was changed to 5 years to allow for other, specialized events in Brno and elsewhere.
