Digital resources
We have a large collection of books for English and American studies available in the Central Library, most of them in open access. Do not forget, the Library is there for you!
However, no library can hold all the books you may need. The Department has therefore been active in acquiring access to major on-line digital resources.
In a series of grants from the Czech Ministry of Education, the Department has been arranging access to essential digital resources for allEnglish Departments in the country since 2001. The resources were Literature Online and Literature Resource Centre. The grants further provided access to the Oxford English Dictionary for the whole of Masaryk University, as well as the purchase of several bibliographic databases on CD-ROM.
The most recent of the projects, LR1307 ELIZA (2013-2017), also covered specialized digital resources for the history of art, film studies, classical studies, and law. Since 2018, purchasing licences for the resources is organized by the newly established CzechELib — National Centre for Electronic Information Resources.
Please note: You will need to use VPN to access the following resources. They are only available to students and staff of Masaryk University.
