It is necessary to register a selected thesis topic in the IS by using application "Topic list" (Student > V průběhu semestru > Rozpisy témat > Bakalářská / Magisterská diplomová práce > Témata: založit). The student applies for a specific topic and awaits approval from the thesis supervisor (if required).
Thesis topics may be modified upon an agreement between the student and the supervisor. Either, an existing topic will be edited in the IS or a new topic will be added to the list of thesis topics list.
Students may also come up with their own suggestions for a thesis topic. In this case, students should contact a potential supervisor according to their area of expertise, as listed below, with a specific proposal for a topic that is not currently listed. They formulate their idea for the topic in approximately one paragraph and suggest at least five secondary sources. Once the new topic is settled, the supervisor will enter the topic into the IS and register the student for it.
The deadline for the thesis assignment is typically on the second Friday of the semester preceding the semester in which the student plans to submit the thesis, i.e., in the semester when the student attends Diploma Thesis Seminar 1.
Doctoral students may supervise Bachelor's theses. They can only supervise one Bachelor's thesis at a time. The doctoral student's supervisor's agreement is required for a registration of the Bachelor's thesis under a doctoral student's supervision.
The supervisor has the right to refuse to supervise a thesis primarily for capacity reasons.
